Sami Auno

Sami (born 12th Apr 1993, Tornio, Lapland, Finland) studied medical physics at the University of Helsinki and joined the High Field MR Centre at the Medical University of Vienna in summer 2017 for his master’s thesis.

Master’s thesis

His master’s thesis in medical physics (Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Wolfgang Bogner) titled “Real-time motion and dynamic receiver sensitivity correction for CEST-MRI in the human brain at 7T” was finished in January 2018 and was focussed on implementing navigator based real-time motion correction for Chemical Exchange Saturation Transfer (CEST) MRI. This involved MR sequence programming (in C++, IDEA), data evaluation (MATLAB), and many trials and errors measuring on the 7T system.

 

Career:

After the master’s thesis, Sami finished his master’s degree in medical physics in 2018 and began working as a researcher and MD/PhD student at the Pediatric Research Centre, Helsinki University Central Hospital and the University of Helsinki. His current research is focussed on developing and implementing MEG/EEG source space connectivity measures for epilepsy surgery planning.
