Stellenausschreibung / Job Opportunities

Folgende Stellen werden angeboten (English only):

The MRCE invites applications for, both, master students in physics, biomedical engineering, and related fields as well as Ph.D. students in medical physics and radiology.

The focus of a potential master or Ph.D. thesis can be in principle any of the research fields listed in “Schwerpunkte” and will be arranged in more detail with one of the supervisors listed below. Depending on individual interests a focus on methodical development or (clinical) application is possible. Currently open positions are listed below.

Our institute is equipped with two 3 Tesla whole-body MR systems (Siemens) and one of ~50 7 Tesla MR Systems (Siemens) worldwide.

The salary will be according to the standards for master and PhD students defined by the » Austrian science fund (FWF).

If you are interested, please submit a letter of application stating career goals and curriculum vitae.

Job Opportunities

Open Ph.D. student position in medical physic or biomedical engineering („Evaluating the clinical value of multi-parametric MRI at ultra-high magnetic field in a longitudinal Multiple Sclerosis study“)

The High-field MR Center invites applications for a Ph.D. student in medical physics, biomedical engineering or related research fields. The focus of the Ph.D. will be mainly on developing/programming semi-automated routines for acquisition and evaluation of a range of different (i.e. multi-parametric) MRI contrast images. The goal is to better understand the genesis and progression of demyelinating brain lesions in Multiple Sclerosis by statistically comparing the different contrast images among each other and other established clinical markers. Ultimately, this should improve our understanding of MS pathogenesis and potentially help neurologists to make better treatment decisions for patients suffering from Multiple Sclerosis.

This work will involve a mix of experimental studies on our MR scanners, writing image processing scripts, evaluation of medical imaging data, and (statistical) analysis of these data in concert with other clinical measures. Programming will include mostly MATLAB/Linux bash scripts.

We are particularly interested in a physicist or biomedical engineer or similar with a master’s, diploma or a comparable degree. The candidate should have good programming skills (preferably Python, MATLAB, Bash scripting) and should be interested in interdisciplinary research. He/She will work in an established team of researchers at the High-field MR Center in collaboration with the Department of Neurology (Dr. Assunta Dal-Bianco). Experience in MRI physics or imaging reconstruction in general would be appreciated.

The salary will be according to the standards for PhD students defined by the Austrian science fund (FWF). (https://www.fwf.ac.at/en/research-funding/personnel-costs/).

If you are interested, please submit a letter of application stating career goals and curriculum vitae.
